Welcome to INTELEC® 2012
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Scottsdale, Arizona, the site of
the 34th annual INTELEC® conference.

There is no doubt the globally interconnected world is continually faced with new
challenges we must confront daily to keep critical communications and energy systems
operating reliably and without interruption. Whether the challenge comes from natural
disaster and recovery, cyber attacks, equipment failure, human error, or other unforeseen
events that impede the insatiable need for uninterrupted communications and energy
flow, our mission remains one of assuring the power electronics and energy storage
systems perform.
In keeping with the selected theme for INTELEC 2012 – Star Gazing in the Desert:
What keeps power people up at night? – The program committee has developed a comprehensive
technical conference scope that will explore a broad range of topics crucial to
the industry. At INTELEC 2012, you will have the opportunity to engage with global
leaders and experts in topics such as powering through disasters, advanced energy
storage systems and technologies, high voltage DC systems, green power solutions,
energy efficiency and many others that are critical to operational success.
We will also introduce two new programs at INTELEC 2012. The student program will
provide a dedicated opportunity for new professionals entering the industry to share
the latest research from academia and meet with their peers. The exhibitor seminar
track will provide conference delegates an opportunity to preview key solutions
being offered, introduced, or presented at the conference exhibition.

I look forward to seeing you in Scottsdale for INTELEC 2012.
